MediFile, the healthcare management app helping ‘casual carers’ across Australia to better care for their loved ones, have announced an early-stage A$10m ‘seed funding’ round.
Recognising the need for a wholistic digital health solution that empowers carers to more effectively manage an often complicated in-home care ecosystem, the HealthTech startup addresses a gap in the market that delivers better experiences for millions of Australians involved in the ongoing care of a loved one.
With close to 2 million Australians currently receiving Government funded home care packages for aged care and disability services, 1 in 3 Australians are involved in the long-term everyday care of a family member or close friend, typically across several different care providers and community services, making it unnecessarily difficult to manage.
MediFile enables users to easily log, track & securely share vital medical information & activities with others involved in ongoing care. In a world-first, the app also leverages patented artificial intelligence technology to provide pre-emptive diagnostics and wellbeing indicators based on user-managed data.
The funding round follows an extensive co-design period during which members of the community – healthcare professionals, technology experts and people involved in the everyday care of loved ones – contributed towards the development of the best possible healthcare management app.
Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, Kristofer Rogers, says “the feedback we have had from the community and potential investors has been really positive“, which he calls a validation of the business after an extensive period of incubating the idea further. He adds, “everyone agrees that there is a gap in the market that focusses on the casual carers – using technology to make their everyday lives easier and that ultimately leads to better care for those that need it the most“.
The seed round is concluding in August 2025, with investor roadshows currently underway across Australia.
